Advent Sunday– God Is Faithful
All the signs for the imminent return of Jesus are there for all to see. Christians have been saying that for nearly 2,000 years. And still, we are waiting! Humans are capable of great love and sacrificial service, and of equally great hatred and evil. We find all this within the institutional church too. It would be easy to get discouraged, as many have done and walked out. But God is faithful. He gives us all we need to be witnesses of his grace, mercy and patience.

Call Committee Update
The call committee has recently met after being voted in at the half yearly AGM two weeks ago.
The committee asks that the congregation to submit all pastor names for consideration, by 5pm Sunday 10th December.
Names can be submitted via the church office email email@example.com
When putting forward a name for consideration, please evaluate how that pastor would fit our key ministry points of:
- Teaching and preaching of the Word.
- Ability to develop and work with teams and equip the lay people for ministry.
- A passion for young people- youth and discipleship.
- A leader with a servant heart.
The committee is next meeting on Thursday the 14th of December.
Please continue to pray for the call committee as they work through the call process.
Your servant in Christ,

Wow what a response. There was a record donation of items in the November food collection. What joy and excitement they will bring many families, especially children when they receive their Christmas Hampers. Due to your generosity the hampers will not only contain traditional Christmas food such as puddings and ham, but items will be surrounded by treats that will be enjoyed by families especially the children. Thank you for helping make Christmas a more enjoyable time for many.
Thanks again for your continued generous support throughout the year. Our collections will recommence in February 2024.

Growing Faith at Home
Happy New Year everyone! (No, I’m not getting ahead of myself.) This weekend marks the beginning of the new church year. We begin with the season of Advent… A time of looking forward to Christmas (when Jesus came to us as a baby) and the time when Jesus will return… How about making your very own Advent calendar? Check out this week’s GFH resource for some thoughtful and practical ideas to prepare for Christmas! (There are 5 pages to this. If you would like a printed copy, just ask!) Enjoy!
Do you like camping and sharing time with other people who like to have fun? Here’s an idea! SPIN is a four-day, three-night, statewide camp in January for young people in years 4-6 (in 2023) to experience an inclusive and encouraging community and grow in relationship with Jesus and others. This year’s theme is ‘Wanted’. Significant sponsorship is offered to first time campers by the LLL. (You just pay $50.) For those who have attended this camp before and are part of our Good Shepherd community, we are offering a subsidy. Just ask Nicole, Rachel, Georgie or the ladies in the church office. The camp is held at Camp Kedron, Barmera. For more information and/or to register head to SPIN.
Christmas is Coming to Good Shepherd!
As you know preparations are well underway for our upcoming Community Carol evening. Many thanks to those who responded to Chris Jaensch’s invitation to be part of his item! We are also looking forward to hearing from the school choir that evening. Thank you to Ms. McAleer for organizing this. I am still interested in hearing from people who would like to be part of our 5:30pm Christmas Eve Family Service. If you would like to be part of this, please let me know or send me an email here.
Wednesday morning was an exciting time for our Curiosity (ELC) friends. We gathered as a community and celebrated with students who are ‘graduating’ at the ELC Blessing Service. Have a look at this week’s devotion for a reflection of what was shared. Next week we look forward to another special occasion as the Year 6 students share a Christmas message. Hope to see you there!
There are plenty of things happening at school as the year draws to a close. (I’m writing this on Tuesday, which is still early in the week.) This week is a big week for the Stage 3 (Year 3 and 4) students, who are camping at the Christian Youth Camp, El Shaddai at Wellington. I did hear that they missed the big thunderstorm early Tuesday morning! I plan to join them tomorrow (Wednesday) to share in their excitement. Why not ask some of our young friends at church on Sunday to hear what they got up to? Here is the link for our school newsletter: https://inewsletter.co/J1WDLx/latest Of course, a printed copy is available in the café area, and I am happy to arrange your own copy if you would like!
We give thanks for all those who have contributed to our online devotions this year. Now we are looking for more! If you have one or more of your own that you would like to share, please send them through to the church office: email@example.com
Tea and coffee are available after Sunday services, and you are most welcome to come and enjoy!!
Connect Cards are available as you enter worship. Please complete the card using pencils which are available from holders on the side of chairs in the worship centre. They may be placed in bowls provided at exits as you leave. Connect Cards may be used for comments, small group or prayer requests, or to communicate with office or Pastoral Care staff.

Reminder two spill kits are available for use in emergency cases where someone has vomited or perhaps become incontinent resulting in involuntary soiling of an area. The kits are in a black bucket with ‘Spill Kit” clearly marked in white on the bucket and lid. Buckets are located in the ladies’ air locker first cupboard to the right on entry and in the very rear store wooden shelving on the left behind the kitchen. Please notify the office if you have used one of the kits so they can be replenished and returned to use.
