Back To Basics: God’s Treasure

All people are loved by God. God’s treasure is those whose faith is in his son Jesus Christ, and being God’s treasure means that we are greatly loved. A love so great that God was willing to sacrifice his only son to save us and give us life!
Pastor Paul Fielke

Community Lunch
The Meet and Eat Team invites you to a lunch on Sunday 17th September after the 10.30am service, in the church hall.
For over 7 years Pathway, our Baptist friend up the road, has been supplying tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of food so we can feed our guests on Monday nights.
We would like to raise some money and donate all of it to Pathway to help pay for its ever-present transport and electricity costs.
On the menu we have a number of soups with various breads, hot dogs and a list of fillings including sauerkraut, beetroot relish, mustard and on course tomato sauce. For a gold coin or note donation.
We’d love to see y’all there to have a good feed and to support our friends who do so much for us.

News From Kenya!!
Our group of 9 Aussies are working in a wonderfully united way here in North Kenya. The Bible story telling is going very well. At church on Sunday, a leading witchdoctor for the area gave his life to the Lord & today a Year 6 Muslim boy came forward in class when they were invited to receive Christ, so God is wonderfully answering your prayers!

Operation Christmas Child
There has been an amazing response to Operation Christmas Child. 100 boxes have been taken by members. Last Sunday there were not enough brochures giving details of items that can be included and payment. Extra brochures and boxes are now available in the foyer area after both services. All boxes need to be returned by Sunday 22nd October. Boxes completed before that date can be left in the church office or brought to either service on Sunday or left on one of the high tables in the foyer.
Enjoy filling your box/es as you imagine the joy of those receiving them at Christmas!!
Spill Kits
Reminder two spill kits are available for use in emergency cases where someone has vomited or perhaps become incontinent resulting in involuntary soiling of an area. The kits are in a black bucket with ‘Spill Kit” clearly marked in white on the bucket and lid. Buckets are located in the ladies’ air locker first cupboard to the right on entry and in the very rear store wooden shelving on the left behind the kitchen. Please notify the office if you have used one of the kits so they can be replenished and returned to use.
Community Family Support News
Growing Faith at Home
The title of this week’s GFH resource might be easier said than done. ‘Jesus calls us to make things right with others.’ This topic can bring up a lot of emotion. There is always a cost when it comes to forgiveness… but holding onto unforgiveness takes its toll as well. Releasing the other person by forgiving them, frees you from being tethered to a painful time/interaction from the past. Here are some conversation starters to try out with your family and friends: What does it mean to forgive someone? Do you find it difficult or easy to forgive? Why? God bless your conversations and the week ahead!
KAPS – Save the date Sunday 24th September!!
Our next KAPS event is coming soon… and we are going on a bear scavenger hunt! It’s going to be lots of fun and we would love for you to be a part of it. There is also something for older people too. Students from Years 7-12 are invited to join in with some Youth games. (So… if you know anyone in this age group, share the news!) Everyone is then invited to join in with worship and dinner. Hoping to see you soon!

Do you like to cook?
From time to time, we have the opportunity to help out families in need of a meal or two. If one of your hobbies is cooking (or if it is something that you don’t mind doing) I would love to hear from you. Feel free to have a chat or you could contact me here and I can give you more information. God bless you! Georgie
School Snippets
There were plenty of laughs to be had at our Trivia Night last weekend. The costumes looked amazing! It was wonderful to gather together for fun and frivolity. We are now looking forward to next year’s event! Tomorrow (8th September) is a pupil free day. School, OSHC and church staff will be completing a full day of 1st Aid training. If you would like to find out more of what is happening at school, you are also welcome to click on the link to our newsletter: https://inewsletter.co/J1WDLx/latest There are photos from our Trivia Night included, or you could look at our school’s Facebook page of course. A printed copy is available in the café area, and I am happy to arrange your own copy if you would like!
Wednesday Worship
Pastor Rolly came to share a message about ‘Greatest rebel of all time’ on Wednesday. His focus was on Jesus! Please have a look at this week’s devotion for an overview of what he shared. Next week we begin a new theme of ‘My Story’. Our new theme will give us the opportunity to hear testimonies from different people as they share their faith walk with God. We have a teacher, a co-educator (whom many of you know) and a past student from Good Shepherd. We would love for you to join us for Wednesday Worship and coffee next week. Same time as usual… 8:50am! Love to see you soon!
Devotions
We give thanks for all those who have contributed to our online devotions this year. Now we are looking for more! If you have one or more of your own that you would like to share, please send them through to the church office via churchenquiries@paravista.org.au
