Five Amazing Things in the Bible that Bring Joy

Reading: 1 John 1:1-7
We are writing these things so that our joy may be made complete. ~1 John 1:4
I was wandering down the street the other day and noticing people. For most, wherever they were standing or walking, their faces were buried in their phones. Now, this devotion is not a diatribe against technology or social media, but the visual did give me pause as I looked at the vacant stares and benumbed faces. Where is their joy? Where is mine?
Then, I thought back to the Meet ‘n’ Eat Christmas dinner back in December. As we ate and shared stories, filled ourselves with food and friendship, I recognised the appearance of true joy. Some of those who had gathered had suffered greatly, and yet there we were smiling, laughing and singing. Thus, I asked myself, ‘How can we experience joy even in the midst of suffering? What does the Bible say about it?’
