God said, “Ask for Whatever you Want.”

God said, “Ask for Whatever you Want.”

If you could ask God for anything you wanted – what would you ask for?

Would it be pleasing to God?

Solomon was given this option and he asked for ‘wisdom’, but what is wisdom?

Bishop Stephen Schulz unpacks what this meant for Solomon and what it means for us today.

Is God’s offer still open to us?

Family Support Coordinator News, from Georgie

Save the Date! KAPS Kids and Parents Youth Event July 31st!

We had a great time as we gathered last month. The theme of the afternoon/ evening was ‘Fruit of the Spirit’. We had a game of ‘Get to know You’ Bingo and a Scavenger hunt. Along the way we decorated biscuits, wrote notes of encouragement, bounced table tennis balls ‘gently’ into cups and ‘faithfully’ guided friends through a task blind folded (amongst other things)! We spent some time in Worship and ended the evening chatting with others while we enjoyed a sausage sizzle.  Our next gathering is July 31st from 4pm. (First Sunday after Week One of Term Three.) So…save the date! Look forward to seeing you then!

Growing Faith at Home

Dear Church Family,

This week’s GFH resource is entitled ‘Sitting at Jesus’ Feet’. Imagine that. Sitting, listening, asking questions…gaining wisdom…Ask your family, friends, and small group members, ‘When and how do you set aside time to listen to Jesus?’

Check out the Creative Response for a way you might like to invest in this area.  You may like to consider using the S.O.A.P acronym, shared a number of years ago, as you delve into God’s Word. S (Scripture) O (Observation) A (Application) and P (Prayer). Why not have a go and share your reflections with your family, friends, or small group?

Family Zone News

Through the Drake key tag initiative, the Family Zone has received $623 this year which goes to support their many programmes. To participate you simply show your key tag to the operator before they start processing your goods and a percentage is donated to the Family Zone. Tags are available from the church cafe.

Some of the programmes our support helps fund:

Being with baby: a focus on the well-being of the mother.

Dads matter: providing a safe place for dads to work through concerns and challenges of being a dad.

ASD Support Group: works with whole family. Parents connect and learn from each other.

Communication English: this teaches how to navigate a doctor visit from booking the appointment, to filling out forms to the actual consultation. This is run by Julie Freund.
