God’s Gift At Christmas!!

God’s Gift At Christmas!!

Christmas Eve (9.30am service)

Is this just another Christmas?

It is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of busyness as we prepare for our celebrations… and become jaded, even disillusioned… losing sight of the wonder, the peace and the joy of what Christmas is all about…

What if we took some moments to breathe, to focus…

What if the answer is right in front of us?

What if there’s a child in a manger who holds the key to wonder, peace and joy?

Join us at 9:30am as we focus on Jesus… the light of the world, the one who became one of us and made home among us… who brought with him God’s wonder, peace and joy… Join us as we worship him with carols accompanied by an organ…

Christmas Eve (5.30pm service)

Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Shops are bursting with products. Media outlets have been promoting all kinds of items for weeks. It is easy to get overwhelmed in the lead up to Christmas. But pause for a moment… What are God’s gifts for you? Join us for our 5:30pm Family friendly service as we unwrap his deeply needed gifts of love, joy, peace and hope… and hear how they came to us through his greatest gift, His Son Jesus. There are opportunities to join in with sharing the good news of the first Christmas, through carols, songs and dress up opportunities for children. Please invite your children and your grandchildren and join us as we worship of Lord and Saviour.

Christmas Eve (7.30pm service)/Christmas Day (9.30am service)

I pray that every one of you experiences this powerful miracle of Christmas, the Good News that brings great joy—that you experience the same good news as the shepherds did on the night the angel came to visit them: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.”

Now you might be like me and love all that goes with Christmas, the time spent with family, the music of Christmas, the celebration of it all—but I want to tell you that this is Christmas right here, spoken about in the Bible—written about on the pages of this amazing book—this is the heart and soul of all we need for Christmas—it’s the greatest story ever that brings great joy!

This story that has been passed on down the years is all we need folks—it’s been true for every century past and will be true for every century to come—and this story was foretold by the prophets of long ago as recorded by the prophets like Isaiah and Malachi.

But after Malachi God went silent for a period of time—there was a time between the Old and New Testaments—a period of 400 years—where God was silent—400 years God didn’t speak through His prophets to His people. But then, just at the right time—God’s time—He spoke into that silence—and He did it in an amazing way—at an amazing time—and what was the timing? Census time—one of the craziest periods for people to be caught up in—people rushing here and there to register—and into this craziness—into this upheaval, God broke His silence.

And He broke into it with the cry of a baby—not with a huge fanfare, or with the biggest display and performance that has been given on planet earth—no, God chose to break into the silence with a cry of a human baby. And with the human cry of a teenage girl giving birth to a baby boy who cries—Jesus, Son of God, deity, in human flesh—God saying I’m coming to earth, and I know that the earth I’m coming to is a broken one. I know that the people I’m coming to are crying—I know the world that I’m entering into is weary—and I want you to know that I identify with your brokenness, and your crying, and your weariness—God’s first sound after 400 years is a cry—the cry of a baby—Emmanuel—God with us.

New Year’s Eve (9.30am service)

The season of Christmas continues today—so when you see each other today, on this New Year’s Eve, you can say to one another, “Merry Christmas and a happy new year”—so you have 6 more days to enjoy saying “Merry Christmas” to each other—you have 6 more days to enjoy singing Christmas carols.

It’s important for Christians to understand that Christmas has not ended at all. If Christmas for you ends with the passing of 25th December, you miss the promise and fulfillment of the divine gift that has been offered to you—it’s in the nurturing and growing of this gift in your lives that you discover the centre of your identity as followers of Jesus—and this has all come about through your adoption into his family.

In Jesus, God makes us what we were created to be: human sons and daughters of the divine Abba—and because of that, God can fill our human frames with Himself, just as the human Jesus was and is filled with all the fullness of the Father’s nature—through Jesus, in Him, and with Him, we know the Father—Abba is our Father, not just Jesus’ Father.

And this was front and centre in Jesus’ mind when He came from heaven to earth—this was the purpose of His birth, where He moved into our neighbourhood, the purpose of His redemptive act upon the cross of Calvary, and His resurrection from the grave—our Abba Father’s plan has always been that we would live dependent on Him, so that His fullness might be ours, and that our joy would be full because of it—it’s what we’ve been made for.

To daily grow in our understanding and wisdom of this, in our faith journey, and in His family, will be a source of joy forever—as we begin a New Year, may God give you that joy which can only be known by those of whom it can be said: “. . . because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So, you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.” [Gal. 4:6-7]

Christmas Whirlwind

This year it’s happening on Saturday 23rd December commencing at 8.30am.  This year many hands will blow the leaves away, cobweb the building and give the facility a good spruce up. Please bring along your personal safety equipment (earmuffs and dust mask), best leaf blower and join the group to create an inviting appearance to our church facility for Christmas. Don’t have a blower? Here will be a few spares you can test with free training. Don’t want to use a machine?  Compete for the biggest spiderweb ball as cobwebbing will also be completed and you can create a web ball worthy of a Guinness record.  If you have long cobweb brush, bring it as well.

Bring your children or grandies and supervise them while they learn.

Christmas Service times

Christmas comes once a year but it’s a special time filled with cheer. A time for friends and family to come together joyfully.

May our hearts prepare Him room, our lives reflect His presence, our homes radiate His peace.

The pleasure of your company is requested as we celebrate the welcoming of our Almighty King!

AED Device

A Defibrillator (AED) is located rear school alcove next to the Café playground. A key is on an orange tag next to the security keypad in the café (small entry exit door). All members holding keys to the complex are to add to their security procedure the visibility of this key and if it is not hanging on the hook to advise either the church or school office as soon as possible of its absence. First Aiders, please note where the unit and key are located, in case of emergency.

Operation Christmas Child

Over 18,000 boxes were donated in South Australia. The majority of these have been sent to Ukraine with a few going to Papua New Guinea.

Thank you again for helping to bring joy to many children and families this Christmas!

January 2024 service times

We will be having only one service at 9.30am throughout the month of January.

Growing Faith at Home

Dear Church family,

Hopefully in the next few weeks, you might have the opportunity to connect with people you love. Car travel, coffee catch ups, visiting family and friends… all things to look forward to! How about some caring conversations to add into the mix? What do you know about your own birth, or the births of others in your family? Have you seen the Southern cross star constellation in the night sky? The Magi followed a special star to find Jesus. Share a time when you when you had to follow a map to get to somewhere special. There are still copies of the Family Faith Trail available in the church café area. The booklet is packed with Christmas themes and activities designed for pre-school, primary students as well as all age activities. There are prayer and online video suggestions, reflections, even a Christmas biscuit recipe… Plenty of ideas to explore during the holidays. I am resharing some ‘Equipping’ resources with you that I have spoken about previously. January is a wonderful time share your faith with your children and grandchildren, participate in acts of service, share time with Jesus and your family as you read the bible and pray together with friends and family.

Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas everyone! May this be a time that we are all reminded of God’s amazing love for each one of us as Jesus (Immanuel) came to be with us.
