Life Changing Moment

Life Changing Moment

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news. It will bring great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:10,11

Can you recall a moment in your life that you could describe as ‘life changing’?

Perhaps the moment you saw your bride walking towards you on your wedding day… The moment you held your newborn baby for the first time… The moment you, or a loved one, survived a life-threatening situation… On occasions such as these everything else tends to fade into the background and you become aware that your life going forward will never be the same again.

We don’t actually know every detail about the birth of Jesus, other than those recorded in the bible. It might have been a silent night; it might not have. I have a feeling that people were going about their regular lives as per usual when Jesus arrived, but…

These moments commanded the full attention of heaven. Angels responded with great joy at the arrival of Immanuel, God with us.

These moments were shared with the most unlikely of people. (Shepherds were about as far away from royalty as you could get!) They responded with awe and wonder. Can you imagine them retelling their stories? I’m sure their lives were never the same again!

The long-awaited Messiah had finally come. He brought with him eternal hope, redefined peace, and matchless joy- evidence of God’s deep love for and connection with us. As Jesus grew, he impacted and changed the course of people’s lives in his day. Then he paid the price of the sin of humankind on the cross… and rose again! And this changes the course of our lives today!

Wouldn’t you describe this as ‘life changing’?

In these Christmas moments, I pray that you are reminded of how deeply loved and precious you are to our Father God. As you celebrate the birth of Jesus, Messiah, Immanuel, may you be filled with His love, peace, and hope. May other things fade into the background as you are reminded that his arrival is good news of great joy… it’s life changing!

God’s Peace,
Georgie
