Our Foundation

We began the year with Chapel talking about a good foundation. What might one choose to build their house upon? The children didn’t seem to go along with my initial suggestions… a massive trampoline, a tonne of gelatinous jelly, soft golden sand or slippery, thin ice… They seemed to favour options that weren’t as much fun in my opinion, or even tasty…
They were looking for something solid, firm, strong, safe, secure and reliable.
Turns out rock seemed to be the best option, something to weather the test of time. And they are right!
Many years ago, King David wrote down some of his observations, recorded in one of his Psalms.
I love you God- you make me strong. God is my bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight. (Psalm 18:1 Msg version)
He lived his life, which indeed was full of adventure, highs and lows, secure in his grounding in God. When stormy seasons hit, he clung to the One who protected and sustained him. In times of celebration and joy, he danced, sang and delighted in the One who delighted in him! He knew God’s love and faithfulness first-hand. He knew God was with him… and we can too!
Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20b ‘And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the very end of the age.’ NLT
With all this in mind, we can approach 2023 with enthusiasm and confidence, standing on our secure foundation in God and his promises.
I wonder what we might build together this year…?
Happy 2023 everyone…
God bless you!
