Power And Authority – Adventurous Discipleship

Jesus sent his 12 disciples out with His authority to preach the good news, heal the sick and drive out demons. He then sent out another 72 of his disciples with that same authority and instructions. What does it look like to be a modern-day disciple with that same authority?

Churchwide Call to Prayer
Our LCANZ bishops are calling the people of the church to set aside 2023 for a churchwide day of prayer focusing on the unity of the church. This is a significant day as it is just a year from the 2024 Convention of General Synod.
At the in-person sessions of the 2021–23 Convention of General Synod, the General Church Board and College of Bishops were asked to consider possible ways forward in the decades-long ordination debate. The Way Forward project is working to develop a framework whereby the LCANZ could function as one church with two different practices of ordination. It is intended that this proposal will be brought to the 2024 Convention of General Synod, 4–7 October 2024. Please play this video message from LCANZ Bishop Paul Smith which introduces you to the important decision General Synod will make in October 2024, and calls our entire church to pray here: Call to Prayer, 8 October 2023 on Vimeo

Equipping Resources
Grow Ministries provide a range of resources that encourage faith at home. Sometimes people feel a little reluctant to engage in conversations that involve faith, preferring to leave that kind of thing to the ‘experts.’ How have you been going with the resources I shared last week? The ‘Encouraging faith at home’, ‘Sharing your faith with your children’ and ‘Reading the Bible’ resources are still available for you use.
Here are some more!
Grandparents, did you know how important you are to the faith development of your grandchildren? Have a look at the resource for some ideas to use with your loved ones, whether they are down the street or across the country! Another resource is entitled ‘Encouraging families to pray’. Prayer is a conversation with the One who loves us most and knows us best. Have a look at the resource for some starting suggestions. There is also an ‘Encouraging acts of service’ resource for you. I know that many people from our community are putting together some gift boxes as part of the Operation Christmas Child program. That is just one way we can serve others. There are opportunities all around us. From in our homes, our church, the people down our streets… everywhere! Enjoy the many opportunities we have to nurture faith at home, and/or in your small group, and/ or with the people you love!

The kits are in a black bucket with ‘Spill Kit” clearly marked in white on the bucket and lid. Buckets are located in the ladies’ air locker first cupboard to the right on entry and in the very rear store wooden shelving on the left behind the kitchen.
