What Great Clothes
The idea is that God has given us great clothes, a “suit of Salvation” and a “robe of Righteousness”. These are beautiful clothes, and God tells us to put these wonderful clothes on each morning, and to wear them with pride.
Pastor Paul Fielke

Community Family Support News
Would you like to volunteer at our school’s Welcome Party coming up on Friday 23rd February? The school is looking for volunteers to help out on the evening. The party begins at 5:30pm and concludes at 9pm. There is a request for some people to assist with some of the background responsibilities that help to make community events like this enjoyable and successful for all. It is a wonderful way to mingle and get to know people who are part of our wider Good Shepherd family. Please see Georgie or email here ASAP if you would like to serve in this way. Happy to share more details with you!
What are you up to on a Wednesday morning? You are welcome to join us at 8:50am for Worship. Why not stay behind afterward for some coffee and conversation. I’m always looking for people to serve beverages from behind the counter and connect as a Good Shepherd Community. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
GFH (Growing Faith at Home)
Dear Church Family,
Are you a good listener? What is involved in listening carefully to others? Just a couple questions from this week’s GFH resource for you to share with your family and friends. The resource talks about a special moment in Jesus’ life where God declares, ‘This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him. Listen to what he says.’ God loves to connect and share life with us. How do you listen to and hear from God in your own life? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Don’t forget the Growing Faith Moments for families with children beginning school, returning to school, beginning secondary school or beginning Year 12 are still available. These ideas help to nurture faith and strengthen your relationships within your family. Talking with children about their concerns and aspirations and blessing your children with prayer all play their part. Copies are available on the pin up board and the stands in the café. Electronic copies are available with this newsletter and will be accessible on our website for the next few weeks. Why not have a look?
It’s been another big week at school. This week our Foundation students began a new chapter in their lives as they started their journey here at Good Shepherd. These students attend school on Monday and Tuesday, have an optional rest day on Wednesday, and then complete their week on Thursdays and Fridays for the first few weeks at school. Foundation Families enjoyed a morning tea on Monday after entrusting their child to the care of their teachers. Our Curiosity (ELC) friends joined us for Wednesday Worship this week where our new Principal, Mrs. Stevens, shared a message on our new theme of BFF (Best Frends Forever) focusing on ‘Showing love to God by forgiving others’. Have a look at this week’s devotion for a reflection of what was shared. There is also a display in the café area to check out! I encourage you to have a look at our school newsletter via this link: https://inewsletter.co/J1WDLx/latest (There are more details about our upcoming Welcome Party.) Of course, a printed copy is available in the café area, and I am happy to arrange your own if you would like!
As the current principal I would like to take this time to acknowledge the life of Mr Bruno Matuschka who recently passed. Mr Matuschka was 95 years old and had served in several Lutheran Schools around Australia. Most noteworthy to our community, Mr Matuschka served here at Good Shepherd as the founding principal from 1981 – 1989. At our schools 40th birthday celebrations Mr Matuschka shared the following words, “Be proud, be joyful and enjoy what God has given to you … the joy and the rejoicing, of being with other people who have like minds about their children’s future.” This school is a joyful place and I thank God for the work that Mr Matuschka did in the founding years of the school. For those in our community that had a connection with Mr. Matuschka his funeral will be held at 10am on Monday 12th February 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Laidley, and it will be livestreamed.
The livestream URL for Bruno’s funeral is bit.ly/bruno-memorial. The livestream will commence at approximately 9:45am AEST on Monday 12th February 2024, and the video will remain available at this address for later viewing. There’s also a Facebook group at for those who are interested.
Evie Stevens- Principal (Good Shepherd Lutheran School)
