What To Do While Waiting

What To Do While Waiting

While Paul waited for them at Athens… he saw… he was provoked… he discussed… he debated… he proclaimed Jesus and the resurrection… he called people to a radical life change… Acts 17-34.

What do you do while you are waiting?

I was waiting at the KL airport on my way to Vietnam. I met a Vietnamese woman who spoke fair English. We talked about Jesus as we waited to catch our flight. We kept in touch via email, always talking about Jesus. Now she and her family live in Adelaide…

Today I was waiting at the supermarket checkout in Littlehampton. I engaged a young woman in discussion, and after the checkout the discussion went on until it led to God. She went on her way saying it had made her day…

Make the most of the time… Colossians 4:5-6.

Pastor David Christian

As you know we have extended a call to Pastor Richard Fox, after our call, he also was called by Glynde.  He has attended the Ministry Coordination Group and the Board and had some good conversations.  He has since asked for an extension of time to discern our call. We expect to hear by Sunday 28th May. Please keep Pastor Richard in your prayers.

Where Are the Collections Bowls?

The collection bowls have moved… just a little bit.

They are now located next to the two main doors as you exit the church (auditorium). See photos. You are welcome to pop your free-will offering and/or connect cards in them at these new locations!

Great Response to Support for Lutheran Care

The response to our April food collection was amazing. There were 61 bags full of groceries collected on last Tuesday. This is the most ever given in any 1 month. The driver who collected our donations said they have come at a very opportune time as the shelves at Lutheran Care were looking very bare.

We pray that Lutheran Care can continue supporting families in need in the northern suburbs of Adelaide.

Community Family Support News

Growing Faith at Home

Dear Church Family,

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves at times. It can be easy to approach tasks and decisions thinking that it is all up to us… It can seem daunting to say the least! God never intended that for us to bear that burden, and that is why he sent the Holy Spirit, to be our helper! This week’s GFH resource offers suggestions and ideas to explore as a family! Why not have a look? Have a wonderful week everyone!

 School Snippets

For Chapel on Wednesday, we welcomed back Pastor Rolly. He shared the intriguing account of a talking donkey! (While he referred to Shrek, the actual message was about Balaam’s donkey.) Have a look at this week’s devotion for his reflection. After the service, we farewelled Mrs. Schoff who briefly reflected on her time in our Good Shepherd community. At the close of last year Karen was offered an education consultancy role with the Association of Independent Schools SA (AISSA) for the duration of 2023. Karen’s passion, dedication and skill set were quickly recognised, and she has been offered and accepted permanency in this role. We also farewelled Carolyn Buhren, our wonderful Auslan teacher who is also embarking on new adventures this year. While her time with us was relatively brief, her impact has been significant, launching Auslan and empowering us to begin to communicate in a different way. Both ladies have openly shared their faith in God and love for others, and we have been blessed by them. We pray that God will continue to guide and bless them in their new ventures! To read the school newsletter for more information about what is happening in our school community. You can click on this link: https://bit.ly/42woe9a or pick up a hard copy from the stand in the café area. I am happy to help you out if you would like your own copy.

Chapel Invitation

We would love for you to join us next week for Chapel as we continue to explore some of the astounding and intriguing stories in the bible. Next week is a real fiery one! Join us afterward for a coffee and chat in the church café!
