Will We Have Enough?

Today (Sun) we will explore the question of whether we will have enough (something very topical given our current lockdown.) But lurking behind this question is an even deeper question of whether we are enough in ourselves.
This text is about God’s provision and his invitation for us to trust in him. In this light, also consider the twin promises from Philippians 4, which together are a message of hope and encouragement in troubled times: “I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me (v 13)” and “With all his abundant wealth through Jesus Christ, my God will supply all your needs (v 19).”
On our own, many things in life are too much for us to cope with, but with Jesus and us together, together we are enough!
This, of course, relates not just to our physical needs, but most of all, it is a reminder that when it comes to our salvation, on our own we are not up to the task. We sinners need a saviour! The Good News is that Jesus is more than enough to bring us the forgiveness and salvation that we all so desperately need. All glory to his name!

Decade Dance
With the last Decade Dance being such a hit, we are planning another dance for Friday the 20th of August!
The theme of this one is Movie Magic, so everyone should come dressed up as a movie character!
Like the last dance, this one is on from 7pm to 11:30pm. BYO food and drinks, and admission is free. Children are welcome under parental supervision. There will be a few easy ballroom dances which we will teach on the night, then line dances and freestyle of all types (for those who want to do harder dances! 😁)
We hope to see you there,
Greta Matthias
A Welcoming Community
Last chance to nominate a name for our mannequin – a name that reminds us to look out for someone new to speak with each Sunday. If you would like to nominate a name, email the church office on churchenquiries@paravista.org.au
After lockdown, encouragement notes will continue to be available for your use on Sundays.
Why not use this time in lockdown to check up on those you have contact with, within our community? Let’s all look out for others and welcome them as we strive to be “A community which intentionally develops intergenerational relationships to grow faith in Jesus so that He can build His Kingdom here and now”.

Our next Grow Coaching workshop with Grow Ministries will be on Saturday 7th August at Immanuel Lutheran Church, North Adelaide. We will be joining with other churches to discuss Family (or Household) Faith Formation. We will begin at 8.45am for tea/coffee with the first session starting at 9am. We plan to be finished by 1pm. Please bring your own morning tea – no lunch required.
All are welcome! Please let the church office know if you will be attending. We would love to see you there.

Growing Faith at Home
Dear Church Family,
How are you? Once again, we find ourselves in uncomfortable times. I didn’t get to the shops Tuesday afternoon, but watched empty supermarket shelves and long queues on the news as people stocked up for the week ahead. The newsreader relayed information that we have heard before, urging us not to panic buy… there is enough food and supplies to go around!
The title of this week’s GFH resource is ‘God provides for his people’s needs.’ It is a comfort to be reminded of this, especially this week! Jesus had spent the day teaching a crowd of over 5000 people and it was getting late. His disciples were fussing, wanting people to get home as it was nearing tea-time. Jesus looked at the circumstances differently. Using a single boy’s lunch, he demonstrated God’s compassion and care and fed everyone… and there were leftovers! Check out this child friendly link for the story: https://youtu.be/S6rj9cAJrWE
Here is a GFH conversation idea to discuss at home (or over the phone with a friend) this week: We tend to fear not getting enough in life because we think there is a scarcity of resources. How does the feeding of the five thousand challenge that understanding? I also like their Creative Response this week: Set aside time as a household to bake some bread or biscuits, ready to share with your neighbours. See how your efforts are multiplied into joy for others!
God bless you with His Peace and Provision this week!

Little Lambs Playgroup
We had hoped that Little Lambs Playgroup would have returned today, but in keeping with the state-wide lockdown, this unfortunately didn’t happen. We will keep you posted as to when we will be able to gather again in person. In the meantime, please pray for our Little Lambs, their families and the Little Lambs team.
Blessings,
Georgie and the Little Lambs Team

“‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.’”
Malachi 3:10 (NIV)
